The School of Mechanical Engineering is founded in 1950.The school is consist of 3 departments(Department of Chemical mechanical Engineering, Department of Material Engineering and Mechanical and Automation Engineering), 1 experimental center and 7 specialties(process equipment and control engineering,material forming and control engineering, measuring and controlling technology and instrument, metallic material engineering, mechanical design and manufacture and automation, industry design, traffic and transportation engineering ). There are 5 post graduate specialties(chemical process mechanics, oil transportation engineering, engineering mechanics, mechanical design theory, material processing engineering) and 2 engineering post graduate domain. Oil transportation engineering is Liaoning provincial key discipline and laboratory. Now there are 75 staff. Among them there are 15 professors, 22 associated professors. Graduates and post graduates are about 1533.

  In recent years, the school closely centers on teaching task, vigorously develops scientific study, keeps a stiff upper lip to construct the school into self superiority and running a school characteristic as well as to have higher teaching, scientific research level and stronger competition. Main courses are as follows: chemical process machine, design of chemical progress equipment, process principle and equipment, automation control technology, process furnishment control technology, machine drawing and descriptive geometry, mechanical design foundation, machine apparatus, foundation of machine manufacture technology, fluid drive and control, arc welding and electroslag welding, ultrasonic testing technology, x-ray testing technology, metallography and heat treatment, metallic heat treatment principle and technology, oil warehouse design, transportation pipeline design and management, strength of oil vessel and pipeline design, oil and gas systematic transportation etc.

  For demand of necessary of multi-specialty and synthesizing running a school, besides 4 departments and corresponding special laboratory, the school setup machine drawing section, mechanics section, machine design section, metal processing technology, hydrodynamics section etc, 1 chemical machine institute, 1 material property research and testing key laboratory. The school also found sino-russian scientific and technical research center. The school annually carry out professional skill training such as autoCAD, non destructive testing and international welding engineer.

  In recent years the school achieves much success in science and research work. More than 200 research papers published in the international and home journal. Some of them are indented by Ei and SCI. More than 60 research projects are taken including nation science nature foundation, petroleum and chemical group of china and so on. The main scientific research areas are fatigue and fracture of engineering structures, fluid machine air and water proof, optimization running of oil field collective transportation, vibrating aging, vibrating welding theory and application, metal corrosion and protection.
